The orchestra has occupied an important place in the artistic and teaching activities of the school and in the musical life of Wrocław. The orchestra was directed in turn by Jerzy Zabłocki, Stanisław Krukowski, Lucjan Laprus, Mieczysław Gawroński, Stanisław Rybarczyk, Wojciech Rodek, Krzysztof Górski and Jakub Kontz.
Currently, the orchestra is led by Marcin Grabosz. In the years of its activity, the orchestra has accompanied graduating students during graduation concerts in the hall of the Wrocław Philharmonic and in the concert studio of the Polish Radio.
The orchestra has performed twice during events connected with the Wratislavia Cantans Festival and in the 2nd and 4th editions of an event devoted to the music of Ryszard Bukowski. In 1995 the orchestra was involved in the production of the movie “Deszczowy Żołnierz” [The Rain Soldier]. It also played a concert of sacred music jointly with students of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. In 1996 it appeared at the “Porozumienie” [Reaching Agreement] music festival and also during the award ceremony of the Silesian Cultural Prize. In October 1997 the orchestra went on a concert tour of Germany, played a St. Nicholas’ day concert for the children of Wrocław and in 1998 it took part in the 19th Actors’ Song Review, performing Hadrian Filip Tabęcki’s Mass. The performance was recorded for television.
The orchestra’s performance at the 5th International Viennese Music Festival in 1998 and the performance of Włodzimierz Szomański’s Christmas Carol in 1999 were received with great enthusiasm.
In 1999 the orchestra performed in Wiesbaden and in 2001 in Moenchengladbach.
In 2002 it went on a concert tour of Germany (Schönebeck, Helmstedt, Magdeburg). In 2005 it made an impression on the cultural landscape of Wrocław by performing twice in the Wrocław Philharmonic as part of the “Spring Day in Europe” event and at the “Classic Premiere” festival.
In 2007 the orchestra played at the Wrocław Philharmonic during a “Szymanowski in memoriam” concert. In 2011 and 2012 it played at the La Folle Journée Festival in Warsaw.

Marcin Grabosz - dyrygentMarcin Grabosz conductor
A graduate of the Academy of Music in Wrocław in the piano class of Professor Grzegorz Kurzyński and in conducting class of Professor Mieczysław Gawroński at the Academy of Music in Wrocław.
Grabosz has been a conductor of the Karol Szymanowski Primary and Secondary Music School Symphony Orchestra in Wrocław since 2008. He has performed with the ensemble many times at the Wrocław Philharmonic, at the National Theatre in Warsaw and abroad.
He has orchestrated Karol Szymanowski’s Mazurkas, op. 50.
He has also been playing chamber music as pianist for more than ten years. He is an active concert performer, playing both classical works and jazz. He has played many first performances of works by contemporary composers.
In May 2005 he has received a special award for the best accompanying player at the 20th Century Music Competition in Warsaw.

The album “Poems”, recorded by Marcin Grabosz and Agata Zubel and containing song cycles by 20th century composers was released in 2009.
