Pérez comenced his musical studies at the Conservatory in Pozuelo de Alarcón with Andrés Sánchez-Tirada. He then enrolled in the Queen Sofía College of Music, where he developed his skills in the piano class of Dmitri Bashkirov and Galina Egiazarova and in the chamber music class of Martha Gulyás. He continued his studies in the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne with Pierre-Laurent Aimard. He specialised in the interpretation of Spanish music under the tutelage of Alicia de Larrocha, Carlota Garriga and Carmen Bravo de Mompou in the Marshall Academy in Barcelona, where he obtained a master’s diploma in Spanish music. He has also participated in masterclasses of famous pianists, including Leon Fleisher, Andras Schiff, Menahem Pressler and Fou Ts’ong.

Pérez has won many awards, in particular the Franz Liszt Prize and the Alicia de Larrocha Award. The Madrid-born, thirty-six tyear old pianist has been successful playing solo recitals, chamber music and performing as soloist on many concert stages and at many festivals in Europe,Japanand in theUnited States. He has played together with such orchestras as Galicia’s Real Filharmonía, l’Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra and Orchestral Ensemble Kanazawa under the direction of Günther Neuhold, Kazuki Yamada, Jean-Jacques Kantorow and David Lockington. His albums won numerous awards and include recordings of the Albeniz’ “Iberia” and “Navarra” suites, for which he received the Albeniz medal. Pérez’ discs of Soler sonatas and Chopin sonatas were released on the Mirare label. His latest album, with Granados’ “Goyescas” was also released on Mirare and received the Diapason d’Or and record of the month in the “Diapason” magazine, as well as the Choc du disque and Choc de l’année 2012 in the “Classica” monthly.

Luis Fernando Pérez is currently an assistant lecturer at the faculty of chamber music in the Queen Sofía College of Music in Madrid and a lecturer at the Marshall Academy in Barcelona, founded by Enrique Granados.
